Abbas Hashmi

Born in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, Abbas Hashmi is an internationally renowned investment banker, business executive, consultant, entrepreneur and public speaker best known as the founder and CEO of Green Card Capital, a company that specializes in assisting high net worth individuals obtain a US green card through the E2 Treaty Visa program. An experienced Family Office investment professional, Hashmi holds a certificate in Islamic Finance and has spent a lifetime advising and working with investors, foreign nationals, high net worth individuals and their families.

At age seventeen Hashmi began a career in television hosting, appearing in over a hundred episodes of various TV shows for PTV Global, GEO, DAWN and ARY. Earning his MBA from the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi, Hashmi soon began a position as Regional Manager of AIG Investment Bank for the Middle East. Beyond being nominated as the fastest growing profit center of AIG, in 2005 Hashmi was awarded the MRG Award for promotion of media research uses and techniques.

From 2007 to 2010 Hashmi was the Associate Director of Private Banking for Ithmaar Bank and from 2010 to 2011 he served as Head of Institutional Relationships for a Royal Family Office of Qatar. In 2012 Hashmi decided to pursue his passion for entrepreneurial ventures and began his own consulting firm which was focused on corporate and private businesses and individuals looking to expand their businesses to the MENASA (Middle East, North Africa and South Asia) and Far East regions.

In October 2012 Hashmi partnered as an advisor on media practices, business strategy and financial matters with WeDidIt, an online crowd-funding platform that allows non-profits to raise money from their social networks. WeDidIt was included in the 2013 Wall Street Journal’s “Startup of the Year” documentary series.

In September 2013 Hashmi founded Green Card Capital in New York City.

An in-demand public speaker and moderator, Hashmi regularly attends conferences in Monaco, Geneva, London, Dubai, Vancouver and South Africa to lecture on the topics of High Net Worth Family Offices, Wealth Management and Investing, Emerging Markets, Private Equity, Venture Capital and Entrepreneurship.

Hashmi sits on the Advisory Board of non-profits, including South Asian Young Women Entrepreneurs (SAYWE) as well as international luxury brands, including GIO DIEV.
